Hong Kong Customs arrested a man in Yuen Long today (September 10) and seized one kilogramme of heroin worth about $650,000.
Early this morning, officers of Customs Drug Investigation Bureau intercepted a man acting suspiciously at Ma Tin Tsuen, and a subsequent search led to the seizure of the heroin from a private car nearby.
The arrested man, 29, will be charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance. He will appear at Fanling Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
