Hong Kong Customs seized about 1.7 kilograms of suspected cocaine with an estimated market value of about $1.7 million at Hong Kong International Airport on April 26.
Customs officers inspected a parcel from Brazil on April 26 and seized the suspected cocaine concealed inside a metal container.
After follow-up investigation, Customs officers yesterday afternoon (May 2) arrested a 41-year-old man suspected to be involved in the case in Kwun Tong.
Investigation is ongoing.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
