Hong Kong Customs yesterday (May 15) seized about 2 kilograms of suspected cocaine with an estimated market value of about $1.93 million in Jordan.
During an anti-narcotics operation conducted yesterday evening, Customs officers intercepted a woman in Jordan and found the suspected cocaine inside a plastic bag carried by her. The 31-year-old woman was then arrested.
The arrested woman claimed to be unemployed. Investigation is ongoing.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
