Hong Kong Customs today (March 22) seized about 4.5 kilograms of suspected cannabis buds with an estimated market value of $868,000 in Yuen Long.
During an anti-narcotics operation in Yuen Long this morning, Customs officers intercepted a man and found suspected cannabis buds in the plastic bag he carried. The 47-year-old man was then arrested. After investigation, Customs officers further seized suspected cannabis buds at the man’s residential premises and arrested a 41-year-old woman in the premises.
The man claimed to be a decoration worker whilst the woman claimed to be a nurse. Investigation is ongoing.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
