Hong Kong Customs yesterday (October 12) seized about 1 kilogram (kg) of suspected methamphetamine and 60 grams (g) of suspected heroin at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point. The market value of the drugs was estimated to be about $410,000.
Customs officers last night intercepted an incoming male passenger at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point for Customs clearance and found about 1kg of suspected methamphetamine and 60g of suspected heroin inside his hand-carried paper bag.
The man, aged 21 and claiming to be unemployed, was arrested for suspected trafficking in a dangerous drug. The case is still under investigation.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
