Hong Kong Customs officers mounted an anti-narcotics operation last night (March 13) in Mong Kok. A local male was intercepted and found to be carrying 3 kilogrammes of ketamine in a bag, with an estimated street value of about $363,000.
The 21-year-old man, who claimed to be a garage workman, was charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at the Kowloon City Magistrates' Court tomorrow (March 15).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence and liable to a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
